Besides whetting the appetite for jambalaya, red beans and rice and local delicacies such as alligator-on-a-stick, rice festivals across the country celebrate the rice harvest with grand parades, street dances, the crowning of Rice Queens, arts and crafts shows, frog derbys, rice cooking contests, fun runs, harmonica contests, livestock shows and rodeos, duck calling competitions, hayrides, cow-chip throwing contests and a whole lot more. Here’s a listing of some selected events that are scheduled to take place in rice communities across the U.S. later this year.
Don't forget September is National Rice Month!
