Panelists discuss farm bill.
|
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Arkansas Women in Agriculture hosted a Farm Bill Panel and Luncheon meeting last week at the Wyndham Hotel. Panelists included Sen. John Boozman (R-AR); Cynthia Edwards, Arkansas Department of Agriculture; Dr. Bert Greenwalt, Arkansas State University; Jeffery Hall, Arkansas Farm Bureau; and Harrison Pittman, National Agricultural Law Center. The meeting provided the more than 50 attendees an opportunity to ask questions on the status of farm bill development.
By a vote of 16-5, the Senate Agriculture Committee passed the farm bill. No schedule has been announced on when it may come to the Senate floor for a vote. Sen. Boozman, who voted against the bill in committee, indicated that Chairwoman Stabenow acknowledged there is work to be done on addressing the issues that caused the Southern senators to vote against the bill before it goes to the floor.
