MS-2012_CA_Field_Day_3.jpg-120831BIGGS, CA -- (Aug. 31) More than 600 people gathered here Wednesday for the Centennial Celebration of the Rice Experiment Station.  USA Rice Federation President and CEO Betsy Ward and USA Rice International Promotion Vice President Jim Guinn were on hand for the program.

The Rice Experiment Station researches and develops improved medium-grain and specialty rice varieties for California growers and has been supported through grower contributions.  The facility has developed 44 new rice varieties since its founding.

"The Rice Experiment Station has served California rice growers for 100 years, which is an outstanding achievement," Ward said. "We wanted to be here for the celebration of both the Rice Station's history and its current work to serve the California rice industry."

Also on Wednesday, Ward and Guinn visited USA Rice member California Family Foods in Arbuckle, meeting with President David Myers and Director of Sales Ken Cox.
