MAKUHARI MESSE, JAPAN -- Earlier this month, USA Rice and the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute joined forces to promote products at the American Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) booth at Foodex Japan 2015.  This is Japan's largest food show with almost 3,000 exhibitors and an estimated 80,000 visitors this year.

"USA Rice has been showcasing U.S. rice at the ATO booth during the Foodex show for the last three years," said USA Rice's Bill Farmer.  "This year we decided to do something different and partner with Alaska Seafood to maximize the promotional impact for both of us."

Two menus using U.S. rice and Alaska salmon were served to more than 400 food industry representatives who visited the booth.  The first was an Alaskan salmon Cal-Bowl with avocado and mango sauce, and the second was a U.S. medium grain rice salad with Alaska smoked salmon.

Farmer added, "The food reps were interested in the pairing of rice and salmon, and gave high marks for taste and quality of the ingredients.  This was a good opportunity to promote new usages and menu ideas for U.S. medium grain rice while collaborating with the ATO and another U.S. cooperator to promote a good image for our products."
