USA Rice extends condolences to the family and friends of Don Alexander, of north-central Arkansas, who passed away on January 21.

Alexander provided more than 40 years of service to Arkansas agriculture, including 35 years at the Arkansas State Plant Board.  He received numerous awards including the Southern Crop Production Association’s highest honor, the Don W. Beise Award, for service to agriculture and the ag chemicals industry, as well as the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture’s President’s Tribute for Distinguished Service.  He was inducted into the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2011.

“Don woke up every day of his career thinking about ways to advance the Arkansas agriculture industry,” shared Arkansas Rice Executive Director Ben Noble.  “He was a true friend both personally and professionally.  The agriculture community in Arkansas could collectively share innumerable examples of Don’s leadership and wise counsel over the years.  Don will be missed greatly and our thoughts are with his family at this time."

Funeral services were held this morning.  Memorials may be made to the Men's Ministry at First Southern Baptist Church of Bryant, Arkansas.
