ARLINGTON, VA – This month, USA Rice joins social media advocacy campaigns in honor of American Heart Health Month and Cancer Prevention Month to promote the health benefits of U.S.-grown rice in maintaining a healthy heart and reducing the risk of cancer. The campaigns have been organized by the American Heart Association and the American Institute for Cancer Research to raise awareness about high blood cholesterol, a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, and to encourage people to take steps to reduce cancer risk.

All month long, USA Rice will be tweeting and posting to Facebook with heart-healthy rice recipes, steps for cancer prevention, and information about the role rice consumption can play in achieving and maintaining overall health.

“Whether it’s adding rice to one’s diet or replacing unhealthy foods with more grains, research shows U.S.-grown rice can play an active role in reducing risk of cancers and maintaining proper heart health,” said USA Rice Domestic Promotion Manager Cameron Jacobs.  “U.S.-grown rice is a nutrient rich grain that contributes more than 15 vitamins and minerals, and is easily incorporated into a healthy eating plan.”
