New How-To Foodservice Guide Spells Out Benefits of U.S. Rice

ARLINGTON, VA – Everything foodservice operators need to know about U.S. rice is now available in a new how-to guide developed by USA Rice and called Ready, Set, Rice! A Rice Cooking Playbook.  The online resource demonstrates the many benefits U.S.-grown rice offers savvy foodservice operations with ten pages of information, facts, and recipes covering all things rice in an easy to understand and easy to access format.

The playbook shares information on the anatomy of a rice grain and explains kernel characteristics and culinary applications of different domestic rice varieties.  There is a concise breakdown of foodservice cooking methods – stovetop steaming, pasta method, stovetop braising, oven baking, pressure cooker/instant pot, slow cooker, and rice cooker.  Advice on the advantages and disadvantages of each method includes suggestions on which rice recipes work best for a specific method.

There is a food safety section on how to properly store cooked and uncooked rice, and recommendations on how to reheat rice for additional uses.  The document is filled with colorful graphics and mouth-watering food photography, and each page includes rice facts and information on U.S. rice production.
