USA Rice Daily Wins National Association Media Award

WASHINGTON, April 27, 2006 — The Society of National Association Publications (SNAP) awarded USA Rice Daily a Bronze Award in its 2006 SNAP EXCEL competition in the “Online Publishing — Electronic Newsletter — General Excellence” category.

“The Daily is about keeping the farmers and others in the industry-up to-date and connected with the USA Rice Federation,” said Arkansas rice producer Jennifer James, who also chairs the USA Rice communications committee. “It is also key in reporting industry issues and accomplishments. This award recognizes USA Rice’s outstanding grassroots communication efforts.”

“USA Rice Daily is the primary member communications tool of the USA Rice Federation,” USA Rice VP for Communications David Coia said. “We put a large share of resources into communications because this organization places a high priority on member involvement for policy formation.”

“We strive to provide members with relevant and targeted information about the activities we conduct on their behalf, political developments in Washington and industry news,” Coia said. “Daily coverage also includes the results of our domestic and international program efforts.”

There were more than 1,040 entries across all categories in this year’s competition in which USA Rice Daily entered its November 28, 29 and 30, 2005, issues for consideration. Previous organizations winning SNAP EXCEL awards have included AARP, the American Diabetes Association and the Humane Society.

“Congratulations on your fine work and exemplary product,” SNAP Managing Director Lee K. Lowery said in his April 20 congratulatory letter. “Your efforts have truly identified USA Rice Federation as a leader in the field!”

SNAP will present the award during a June 14 reception at the Washington Plaza Hotel in Washington, DC.
