National Rice Month Scholarship Entry Forms Due Oct. 20

ARLINGTON, VA, October 4, 2006 — The USA Rice Federation is sponsoring a National Rice Month (NRM) scholarship contest for high school juniors and seniors whose families are directly involved in the rice industry. Following their September NRM activities, students vying for $10,000 in scholarship awards must file a NRM Scholarship Entry Form by Oct. 20, to officially enter the competition.

Students should include pre- and post-event publicity, details of activities and photos when completing the entry forms. Completed entry forms should be sent to USA Rice Federation, ATTN: Tony Somers, 4301 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 425, Arlington, VA 22203-1616.

Winners will be notified by Nov. 17.

The NRM Scholarship Program offers six prizes, one for each of the six major-rice producing states. One state winner will be named the national grand prize recipient and will receive a total scholarship award of $5,000. Winners for the five remaining states will receive a $1,000 scholarship award.

The national winner also wins an expense-paid trip in December with the recipient’s chaperone to the USA Rice Outlook Conference in Las Vegas, NV, for the scholarship presentation.
