According to the USA Rice Federation U.S. Rice Domestic Usage Report, direct food use accounted for 30.462 MM CWT and processed food use accounted for 27.541 MM CWT of the 58.003 MM CWT of rice shipped in Mill Year (MY) 2004-2005. Click here for full report.

The drop in brewing rice volume (9.5%) from MY 2003 is attributed to increased brewing efficiencies and changes in product sales mix to brands requiring less rice.
