Market Overview

Hong Kong produces no rice yet eats nearly 100 pounds per capita annually.  Hong Kong is a truly open market with no quantitative or qualitative restrictions and no tariffs on imported rice. Hong Kong imports more than 335,000 tons annually and generally has a preference for jasmine rice. Hong Kong imported $7 million of U.S. rice in 2019.
