ARLINGTON, VA -- September marks the start of National Rice Month, the month-long celebration of U.S.-grown rice and the American farmers behind the mighty grain.  The industry uses this program to educate consumers on where their rice comes from, the sustainable farming practices used in producing rice, and all the benefits of rice grown in the USA.

As part of this year’s National Rice Month, USA Rice is partnering with fast casual restaurant chain Roti Modern Mediterranean, already a major user of U.S.-grown rice, to raise awareness about U.S. rice and to help those in need.  Molly McGrath, Roti’s director of culinary research & development, attended the USA Rice Foodservice Farm & Mill Tour in Louisiana last month to get a better understanding of the U.S. rice industry.

All September, Roti Modern Mediterranean and USA Rice will host RiceGivingsm, a charitable program that will donate a bowl of U.S.-grown rice to a local food pantry for every Signature Rice Plate ordered by Roti Modern Mediterranean’s guests in-store or online.

Created by USA Rice and leveraging the national food bank network of Feeding America, the 2018 RiceGiving program’s goal is to donate as much as 180,000 bowls of rice to those who need it most.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Roti Modern Mediterranean for RiceGiving,” said Michael Klein, USA Rice vice president of communications and domestic promotion.  “Roti, a long-time user and supporter of U.S.-grown rice, has a real commitment to locally-sourced, high quality ingredients, and their slogan, ‘food that loves you back’ could not be more appropriate with their participation in our RiceGiving program.”
