OTTAWA, CANADA -- According to a survey conducted for USA Rice Canada, Pinterest is the second-leading source of inspiration among Canadian consumers searching for new recipes on social media.

“Pinterest continues to stand out amongst its competitors as a community that drives meaningful user engagement while introducing people to cuisines they may not discover on other platforms,” said Asiha Grigsby, USA Rice director of international promotion.

In 2021, USA Rice Canada expanded its digital strategy to place a greater emphasis on Pinterest, with more than 4,070 visits to the USA Rice Canada website because of active promotions on the platform.  For comparison, in the preceding year there were only 326 click-throughs to the site from Pinterest, which means website traffic from Pinterest increased by more than 1,150 percent from 2020 to 2021.

Year-long strategic planning that included paid post boosting contributed to strong results.   By the end of 2021, traffic on Pinterest had skyrocketed compared to 2020, averaging more than 210,400 monthly impressions (the number of times content is displayed), and more than 3,000 monthly engagements (how many interactions content received from user via likes, comments, shares, saves, etc.).

“By diversifying our social media efforts, we are attracting the ‘pinners’ of the world and maximizing cross-channel visibility,” said Grigsby.  “Along with its large and diverse selection of recipes, Pinterest’s user-friendly interface provides a unique offering that aligns with real business objectives – including driving traffic to USA Rice Canada’s recipe and resource hub.”
