ARLILNGTON, VA – Today the online nutrition community and USA Rice are celebrating a “Whole Day for Whole Grains” on a mission to spread the word about the goodness of whole grains.

USA Rice is a founding member of the Whole Grains Council, the organization sponsoring the annual whole grain day that encourages consumers to add more whole grains to their diets.

“USA Rice is taking this opportunity to promote our favorite whole grains, brown, red, black, purple, and wild rice with social media posts and links to recipes that make it easy for folks to give whole grains a try,”  said Cameron Jacobs, USA Rice senior director of domestic promotion.

Whole grains have been recognized as a key dietary component in maintaining healthy diets and contributing to positive health outcomes and are recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the U.S. Department of Agriculture MyPlate program as an important source of fiber, essential minerals, and other nutrients.

“USA Rice is part of the online nutrition community that includes bloggers, influencers, dietitians, brands, food manufacturers, retailers, and food service providers, all banding together today to amplify each other’s messages,” said Jacobs.  “It’s a win-win: we all promote and interact with each other’s posts, and help more people learn about whole grain foods.”

Earlier this month, Jacobs was featured on Giant Food’s Table Talk, the retailer’s dietitian-hosted wellness series where he explained what whole grain rice is and how it differs from white rice in anatomy, nutrition, taste, and cook time.  Jacobs also answered questions from consumers in real time, educating them on what makes U.S.-grown rice special and why they should be adding it to their shopping carts.
