LAS VEGAS, NV – USA Rice exhibited at the second annual SIAL America trade show here, where more than 225 vendors promoted their products and services to 14,000+ attendees. SIAL America is the premier cross-category food and beverage conference in the United States.  It hosts domestic and international exhibitors, key importers, food service companies, distributors, retailers, wholesalers, and restaurateurs.

“We were excited to return to SIAL America as exhibitors,” said Asiha Grigsby, USA Rice director of international promotion for the Western Hemisphere.  “As always, our focus is on creating awareness around U.S. rice and we saw a lot of potential in the retail market that would benefit the U.S. rice industry.  It was also great to be joined by our members so they can interact directly with customers – and vice versa.”

American Commodity Company’s Sabrina Schumacher helped staff the booth again this year, as did Mississippi rice farmer and USA Rice Chair Kirk Satterfield.  They educated attendees about the many different types of rice grown in the U.S. as well as the industry’s sustainability story that has a long history and great goals for the future.

Armed with his vast knowledge of the rice industry stemming from his hands-on training as a lifelong rice farmer in the Mississippi Delta and graduate of the Rice Leadership Development program, Satterfield fielded questions from dozens of visitors.

“I am grateful to have the opportunity to represent the U.S. rice industry in this capacity,” said Satterfield.  “We all strive to provide the best product for our families and the world, and the more we can educate consumers about the benefits of our rice, the stronger our industry will become.  We’re working to make that goal a reality.”

USA Rice will distribute the approximately 30 trade leads to membership next week.
