SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – Last week USA Rice participated as a co-sponsor of the Americas Agricultural Cooperators Conference 2023, hosted by the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), in conjunction with U.S. Wheat, and the U.S. Grains Council here.
The two-day conference is widely recognized as a premier event to learn about emerging markets, production, and sustainability perspectives, as well as an excellent platform to develop business opportunities.
International speakers from Central America and the United States presented on topics including agricultural economics, innovation, and sustainability. Industry-leading producers and field experts were present to discuss market trends and future agricultural strategies to improve crop yields.
USA Rice member Pamela West, manager of Brookshire Drying Company, gave a presentation entitled, "Traceability and Sustainability of U.S. Rice," which analyzed various trends in the global rice trade. She also joined the sustainability panel providing insight on best practices in her business.
“Our industry’s unique sustainability story sets U.S. rice apart from all other origins,” said West. “We strive to provide the best product while protecting the environment so that future generations can also reap the benefits of our land.”
USA Rice also invited three members of the Costa Rican trade to participate as attendees in the conference.
“USA Rice regularly collaborates with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and fellow cooperators in promoting U.S. origin products around the world,” said Asiha Grigsby, USA Rice director of international promotions in the Western Hemisphere. “Conferences such as this are essential in creating awareness and preference for our products, and provide a platform for education in our export markets.”
