ARLINGTON, VA – In less than two months, the rice industry will descend on Indian Wells, California, for the 2023 USA Rice Outlook Conference at the family-friendly and beautiful Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa. Early bird registration has been extended to October 20. The USA Rice room block at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa is full, but a nearby overflow hotel is being added. Please check the
website for more information.
Exciting educational programming has just been added, including all new information on how gene editing technology is going to positively impact the rice industry and global food production, and a session on country-of-origin labeling and changing label requirements.
These new sessions will join the already packed lineup that includes discussion of on-farm labor law, direct-to-consumer distribution systems, what NASA’s satellite network can do for you, and much more.
U.S. grain quality will be a featured discussion, with the Fourth Annual U.S. Rice Quality Symposium being held just off the 14,000 square foot exhibit hall. Participants will have the opportunity to sample nearly two dozen rice varieties and meet with eight private and public breeders working to expand opportunities for U.S. rice exports.
“The U.S. rice quality symposium started out as a way to demonstrate our industry’s efforts in responding to the needs of our important customers in Latin America and has now grown into a mainstay of the Outlook conference,” said Sarah Moran. “We greatly value the input and feedback from our international customers, especially FECARROZ (the Central American Rice Federation), and have also built in time in the schedule for one-on-one meetings between U.S. rice exporters and U.S. rice importers, to help expand exports.”
“We’re packing a lot of value into a short amount of time with dynamic speakers, important information, and vendors and exhibitors who really care about the rice industry,” said USA Rice Chair Kirk Satterfield. “In addition, we’ve got our exciting Annual Awards Luncheon where we celebrate excellence, including meeting the 2024/26 Rice Leadership Development Program Class.”
