ARLINGTON, VA – On November 20, Commodity Futures Trading Commissioner (CFTC) Caroline Pham joined the fall meeting of the USA Rice Futures Contract Working Group.  The working group is tasked with ensuring the viability of the rice futures contract and educating industry members about the logistics of the futures market and how it operates.

Commissioner Pham focused her remarks on the role of the CFTC, recent CFTC activities, and discussing agriculture futures markets.

“On behalf of the USA Rice Futures Contract Working Group, I want to thank Commissioner Caroline Pham for taking the time to provide remarks and discuss her role at the CFTC, as well as the rice futures contract,” said John Morgan, a Louisiana rice miller and chair of the USA Rice Futures Contract Working Group.  “Her real-world business background is a true asset to the CFTC in her role as a commissioner, and we appreciate her using that experience as the regulator of futures and derivatives markets.”

Commissioner Pham was sworn in as a CFTC Commissioner on April 14, 2022.  She is a recognized leader in financial services compliance and regulatory strategy and policy, and sponsors the CFTC’s Global Markets Advisory Committee.  Previously, Commissioner Pham was a managing director at Citigroup and has held leadership roles in many industry organizations.
