ARLINGTON, VA – You know summer is in full swing in Washington, DC, when interns from across the country show up to work in and around the nation’s capital.
Joining USA Rice this summer as a government affairs intern is Cason Moorman, a senior at Texas A&M University who is pursuing a degree in agricultural economics, with a concentration in policy and economic analysis.
Originally from Huntsville, Texas, Cason’s passion for agriculture and agricultural policy stems from the time he spent in 4-H and on his grandfather’s farm.
“I’m excited to get hands-on experience working on the federal level,” said Moorman. “I anticipate my assignment at USA Rice is going to give me a lot of great opportunities to learn more about federal policy and regulations.”
Cason’s passion for policy and agriculture has grown during his time at Texas A&M as he is a participant in the university’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Program (ANRP), which arranges internships for students who earn college credit as well as political experience.
Last spring, Cason was a legislative intern through the ANRP program for a senior member of the Texas House of Representatives for the 88th regular legislative session. During this internship he got to participate in the Texas legislative process in real time, mainly focusing on issues related to natural resources.
