USA Rice extends condolences to the family and friends of Donald Samuel Morton of Des Arc, Arkansas, who passed away on June 18, at the age of 59.  He is survived by his wife, Kelli, their children, Cole and Caroline, and their families.

Born in 1966, Donald was a third-generation rice and soybean farmer who spent his life working alongside his father, brother, son, and nephews.  Donald and Kelli also owned and operated Bell's Ag Flying Service, a thriving business that served the agricultural community they loved.

Agriculture was not only Donald’s livelihood but his passion.  He was a long-standing member on the Arkansas Rice Council and Farmers Boards, served as president of the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board, and as a member of the Riceland Foods Board of Directors.

“I’ve known Donald for many years but really got to know him well as we worked together on the Riceland Board of Directors,” said fellow farmer Jennifer James.  “Donald served our industry with a thoughtful approach, keeping the farmer’s needs top of mind.  His big smile lit up the room!  He loved his family, but he also loved farming, his friends, and his community.  We have lost a great leader and he will be missed by all those who were fortunate to call him friend.”

Donald will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, farmer, businessman, and friend, whose life was rooted in faith, family, and service to his community.

Memorials may be made to Des Arc First United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 605 W. Erwin Street, Des Arc, Arkansas, 72040.
