NEW YORK, NY – After many years “auditing” the goings on with the Specialty Food Association (SFA), including attending the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York several times and the Winter Fancy Food Show in Las Vegas in 2024, USA Rice officially became a
Tier 1 Alliance Member of the not-for-profit group this summer.
Founded in 1952, SFA represents more than 4,400 businesses worldwide, each of whom are purveyors, global importers, distributors, retailers, and entrepreneurs in the specialty food trade.
“SFA is the owner and operator of the Summer Fancy Food Show and the new Winter FancyFaire, as well as the sofi™ Awards, so joining was probably overdue for us,” said Robbie Trahan, Louisiana rice miller and chair of the USA Rice Domestic Promotion Committee. “In addition to gaining access to ground-breaking research into food trends and networking with culinary leaders, membership will allow us a new direct channel to introduce U.S.-grown rice to distributors here and around the world by participating in the 2027 Fancy trade shows.”
Michael Bosworth, California rice farmer and owner of Next Generation Foods, attended the show and said, “I'm excited about the new USA Rice membership in the Specialty Food Association and the opportunity for brands to exhibit in a USA Rice booth at the San Francisco show in January. I think it will be a great way to increase visibility and introduce more buyers to U.S.-grown aromatic rice.”
The 2027 Winter FancyFaire is scheduled for January 17-19 in San Francisco, California, and the 2027 Summer Fancy Food Show will be held July 25-27 in New York City.
