WASHINGTON, DC – On Friday, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman (R-AR) released revised legislative text and announced the Agricultural Act of 2026 would come before the committee on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 9:30 AM ET. The updated bill includes new language authorizing year-round sales of E15 and postponing by a year the implementation of a requirement for states to share the cost of providing SNAP benefits.
“USA Rice applauds Chairman Boozman and President Trump for their leadership in working to offer compromise language to pass the remaining Farm Bill provisions,” said chair of the USA Rice Farmers Board and Louisiana rice farmer Fred Zaunbrecher. “This language builds on the critical investments made to the farm safety net last year as part of the Working Families Tax Cut Act and provides longer-term certainty to rice farmers during these challenging economic conditions. We encourage Congress to act this year to reauthorize the remaining provision of the farm bill to support American agriculture.”
Zaunbrecher continued: “This certainty, coupled with the much-needed short-term economic assistance included in the budget reconciliation legislation, is welcomed by the rice industry, and we encourage the Senate to pass these bills as soon as possible."
