• USA Rice Participates in FECARROZ Meeting

    The Central American Rice Federation (FECARROZ) invited USA Rice here earlier this month to present at their board of directors meeting. USA Rice provided an update on the current U.S. crop and also discussed USA Rice's proposal to develop a FECARROZ standard in order to minimize variability in the quality of rice that is exported.

  • Egypt Bans Rice Exports as of September 1

    Egypt will ban rice exports again as of September 1 to satisfy domestic consumption, the ministry of trade and industry said yesterday. The ministry has yet to decide the duration of the ban, according to Sayed Abu Qomsan, a deputy to the minister.

  • Mexico Market Takes a Positive Turn

    For the first time in four years the market share for U.S. rice in Mexico is on the upswing. The United States is the sole supplier of paddy rice to Mexico and typically 40 percent of U.S. paddy exports are destined to this market. In 2010, 92 percent of the rice Mexico imported was paddy; by 2014, that number had fallen to 69 percent. But in the first five months of this year, the trend has reversed and 75 percent of Mexico’s imports were U.S. paddy rice.

  • Interest in New Rice Varieties at USA Rice Seminar in Taiwan

  • U.S. Rice and Wine in Japan – A Winning Combination

    Last week, USA Rice conducted the final competition at the 3rd annual U.S. Medium Grain Recipe Contest where eight professional chefs, selected out of 166 entrants, were vying to create the best dish pairing U.S.-grown medium grain rice with wine.

  • Mexican Dishes Bring U.S. Rice to Japanese Consumers

    This week, USA Rice conducted a consumer event here in collaboration with Ryoritsushin, a popular food magazine. Approximately 60 Japanese consumers were introduced to U.S. medium grain at Toro Tokyo, celebrity chef Richard Sandoval’s hot Mexican and Latin American restaurant in the posh and exclusive Ginza District.
