Controlled traffic farming to reduce compaction

Establish a controlled traffic system where no more than 25% of the surface is tracked with heavy axle loads to minimize soil compaction.

Arkansas – November 2, 2018 and January 11, 2019
California – November 16, 2018; December 7, 2018 and June 14, 2019
Louisiana – January 4, 2019; April 19, 2019 and June 21, 2019
Mississippi – November 16, 2018 and December 14, 2018
Missouri – November 16, 2018
Texas – March 15, 2019 and May 10, 2019
 


Additional Information
For row crops (e.g. corn in 30-inch rows) no tire should run on a row except for flotation tires on combines and/or fertilizer and lime spreading trucks. If wide flotation tires are used, they must be big enough that the inflation pressure will be below 18 psi to minimize compaction on trafficked rows.
