Sustainability

Technology evolves rapidly, and our rice farmer’s conservation efforts have evolved with it.  Every year, U.S. farmers grow rice more efficiently with significantly fewer natural resources, continually expanding their knowledge and expertise. Conserving natural resources and focusing on sustainable practices is essential if we are to preserve our rice farming traditions and pass them on to the next generation. USA Rice along with The Rice Foundation developed several resources to highlight the gains for the industry in sustainability since 1980.

Through the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities funding, the USA Rice – Ducks Unlimited Rice Stewardship Partnership will be able to offer over $63 million in additional financial assistance to U.S. rice producers. This competitive process will offer rice producers a suite of over 30 practices to choose from to fit the needs and capabilities of their operation. A program signup is planned for 2023 with practices being implemented in growing season 2024. Check back periodically for additional details.
