USA Rice Again Supports Healthcare Workers in Singapore

SINGAPORE -- Last year USA Rice partnered with U.S. rice importers in the World Gourmet Summit “Unsung Heroes Initiative” by supporting production and delivery of meals to healthcare workers tending to patients hospitalized with COVID-19.  As the pandemic persists here, USA Rice again contributed to this year’s third round of the “Unsung Heroes Initiative.”

“This initiative is about giving back to the local community, something USA Rice has a reputation for as a result of our partnership with the World Gourmet Summit,” said Jim Guinn, USA Rice director of Asia promotion programs.  “Through our U.S. rice importers here, we provided rice to restaurants that prepared bento meals using U.S. medium grain, giving their chefs firsthand experience with the quality and versatility of U.S. rice.”

This time around the recipient of the meals were healthcare “heroes” of the Metta Welfare Association that has a mission to deliver social service programs, including medical care for needy individuals and families.
