Nothing is lost in translation when USA Rice's Asiha Grigsby (second from left) works the booth

WASHINGTON, DC – It was déjà vu all over again when a USA Rice promotion team set up shop at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farmers Market last week to give away rice, Aroma rice cookers, recipes, and test people’s knowledge of this mighty homegrown grain.
The market is held on Fridays from May through October and is organized by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), and features 30 farmers, ranchers, and local businesses promoting U.S. agriculture. USA Rice last participated in 2019 when the market was a stop on the Ride with Rice tour through the mid-Atlantic, and the team picked up right where they left off.
“The crowd was definitely excited to see us again,” said Cameron Jacobs, USA Rice senior director of domestic promotion. “And why wouldn’t they be? We have fun playing rice trivia games with people and talking to them about U.S.-grown rice, and they all walk away with a newfound appreciation for the Grown in the USA logo that we stress.”
Marketgoers continued to sign up for the USA Rice consumer newsletter, even after the supply of 60 rice cookers was exhausted.
“We appreciate USDA reaching out to us to participate again, and though the season is coming to an end next week, we talked about integrating U.S.-grown rice into the market’s many educational programs for the 2023 season,” said Jacobs.
