ARLINGTON, VA – The clock is ticking for the annual National Rice Month (NRM) Scholarship video contest!  The deadline for entries is Tuesday, October 15.

Less than two weeks away but more than enough time for eligible students, graduating high school seniors from Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, or Texas, to create a short video – three minutes or less – that educates, entertains, and tells why rice is special to you, to your state, or to the world.

Three guaranteed scholarship prizes, sponsored by the American Commodity Company (ACC), will be awarded.  The grand-prize winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship and a trip with a chaperone to the USA Rice Outlook Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, this December; the second-place winner receives a $3,000 scholarship; and third place receives $2,000.

“The contest website has lots of information including tips on how to make a great video,” said Michael Klein, USA Rice vice president of communications & strategic development.  "The most important thing is be sure to use U.S. rice, make it interesting, and have fun!"

Entries are judged on creativity, quality, and effectiveness in telling a story about U.S.-grown rice.
