USA Rice extends condolences to the family and friends of Luke Adam Soileau who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 14.

A Ville Platte native, Luke was born on February 6, 1990, and attended Sacred Heart High School and McNeese State University.  He joined the family business, Progressive Tractor and Implement Company (PTI), and played an integral role in helping grow the company throughout Louisiana and beyond, attaining the position of PTI regional manager after serving in numerous roles, including managing Shreveport operations and most recently, a position at PTI Powersports.

"Luke Soileau’s career at PTI spanned nearly every role, from washing combines and repairing equipment as a youth to sales, store management, and overseeing inventory across multiple locations in Louisiana and Arkansas,” said Alex Sylvester, a dear friend who grew up with Luke.  “His deep knowledge of farm machinery and hands-on experience made him a trusted advisor to farmers, providing tailored solutions that helped their businesses thrive.  Luke’s dedication extended beyond sales – he was known for his meticulous management of parts and inventory, ensuring operations ran smoothly.”

Luke will be remembered for his relaxed, friendly disposition, and adventurous spirit. He brought his love of people, food, and music to everyone he interacted with – family, friends, and coworkers.  Luke always had a smile on his face and a contagious laugh, and enjoyed every opportunity he had to engage with people, telling stories and jokes.  His adventurous spirit led him to a love of the outdoors, motorcycles, and boats. He also enjoyed reading, art, and music.

Sylvester added: “Luke’s passing leaves a significant void in the agricultural community.  His impact, however, remains through the countless farmers he helped and the legacy of professionalism, dedication, and care he leaves behind."

A visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at LaVille Funeral Home in Ville Platte, with a rosary recited at 5:30 p.m.  Visitation will resume on Thursday, December 19, from 8 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte.  Burial will take place at Pythian Cemetery in Bunkie.
