ARLINGTON, VA – It’s a medley of information on the newest episode of The Rice Stuff  podcast this week.  First up, Dr. Steve Linscombe comes in to share his thoughts on the recently concluded International Temperate Rice Conference he organized in New Orleans (see USA Rice Daily, June 12, 2024).

Then USA Rice Vice President of Government Affairs Jamison Cruce sits down with co-hosts Michael Klein and Lesley Dixon to give an update on the 2024 Farm Bill – spoiler, he’s not expecting much action until after the elections in November.

And finally, the new podcast studio had its very first in-person guest: 84th International Rice Festival Queen Caroline Hardy.  Caroline, who has been on the pod in the past, did not sit down in the guest chair to talk ag festivals, pageants, or that famous third full weekend in October in Crowley.  She was discussing her work this summer as a USA Rice Government Affairs intern, including some moonlighting she did for the Domestic Promotion and Communications teams.

All that, plus Lesley shared what may be southern slang or a word her father made up, and Michael takes the new soundboard for a test drive.
