SAN PEDRO SULA, HONDURAS – Last week, USA Rice conducted annual trade servicing visits here, solidifying relationships with key trade partners in the region.

"Face-to-face engagement is key to maintaining relationships with our trade partners," said Asiha Grigsby, USA Rice senior director of international promotion for the Western Hemisphere, who conducted the trade trip.  "We hear firsthand about the challenges they are facing in the markets and work collaboratively with them to promote their U.S.-origin brands."

San Pedro Sula serves as the central hub for Honduran rice importers, and the USA Rice team took advantage of this strategic location by meeting with seven key importers to hear about their enthusiastic interest in continuing joint promotional efforts with USA Rice.

One such promotion will be the inaugural International Rice Expo-Convention, hosted by Fecarroz and co-sponsored by USA Rice, here in San Pedro Sula on September 24-25.  This event marks a significant milestone in the joint-promotion efforts by USA Rice, providing an excellent opportunity for further engagement and partnership.

The trip also included productive meetings with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), where the USA Rice team updated FAS officials on current activities and discussed potential opportunities to support U.S.-origin rice in Honduras.

"Regular cooperation with FAS is integral to our strategy and helps us align our efforts and leverage additional support for promoting U.S. rice in international markets," noted Grigsby.  “With the upcoming participation in the International Rice Expo-Convention, USA Rice is poised to build and strengthen relationships in Honduras.”
