ARLINGTON, VA – An updated version of
Reimagined Rice Meals for Schools, a rice cookbook created by the USA Rice K-12 Chef Advisory Board is now available. The downloadable school foodservice cookbook features 24 K-12 rice recipes that were developed and photographed by members of the Chef Advisory Board and includes new information on USA Rice’s MyPlate Gold Partner status and the new Grown in the USA badge.
The latest edition of the cookbook features profiles on the newest members of the K-12 Chef Board, Chef William "Reggie" Sloan and Chef Brittany Jones, and includes eight new recipes: Street Corn Rice, Roasted Veggie and Bean Burrito, PB&J Rice Pudding, Caribbean Rice and Beans, Italian Rice Pilaf, Peachy Breakfast Rice, Warm Autumn Rice, and a Mexican Red Rice.
"It is exciting to be part of the USA Rice Chef Advisory Board and be able to work on behalf of a food that brings so many different cultures and people together," said Chef Brittany Jones.
In addition to the recipes, the colorful cookbook includes an introduction to USA Rice, profiles of each member of the K-12 Advisory Board, background information on rice’s role in school nutrition programs, promotion of the U.S.-grown difference, rice storage information, and a rice cooking guide for a range of foodservice cooking methods.
The updated cookbook is available both in-print and digitally, and was recently distributed to various school foodservice audiences through the
Schools Think Rice Newsletter, School Nutrition Services Dietary Practice Group (SNS DPG) E-Blast, and by members of the advisory board across their professional networks.
