ARLINGTON, VA – This month, USA Rice officially became a member of the International Food Information Council (IFIC), joining more than forty food focused commodity boards and trade associations as an IFIC Forum member.

IFIC is an education and consumer research organization with a mission to effectively communicate science-based information about food safety, nutrition, and sustainable food systems whose resources are derived from peer-reviewed science and the work of authoritative bodies, including the Food & Drug Administration (FDA); the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA); the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine; the European Food Safety Authority; and others.

“The International Food Information Council is pleased to welcome USA Rice to the IFIC Food & Health Communications Forum,” said IFIC President & CEO Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN.  “The Forum offers national nonprofit organizations a unique platform to collaborate with IFIC’s network of experts in food safety, nutrition, agriculture, and science communication.  USA Rice now joins a distinguished community of professionals from academia, government, and the private sector advancing meaningful dialogue across the food system.  We look forward to the knowledge and perspective USA Rice will contribute to this dynamic and expanding forum.”

Through Forum membership, IFIC provides nonprofit organizations, trade associations, commodity boards, and health professional societies the ability to engage, equip, and empower diverse food safety, nutrition, and agriculture thought leaders, advancing the food systems dialogue and science-based decision-making.  The Council delivers best-in-class research and consumer insights through their annual IFIC Food & Health Survey, informs food and nutrition stakeholder communications, and addresses misinformation and provides context regarding many topics related to food, from the opportunities related to agricultural innovation, to the intricacies associated with food and ingredient safety, to the nuances of consumer purchase and eating behaviors.

“USA Rice is thrilled to join many of our agriculture and food industry partners in becoming a member of IFIC,” said Cameron Jacobs, USA Rice vice president domestic promotion.  “At a time when there is so much constant change around consumer perceptions, nutrition policy priorities, and rampant misinformation around food and health, being able to look to IFIC for evidence-based consumer insights and have transparent discussions with stakeholders across the ag and food sectors will greatly benefit the domestic rice industry, while helping to guide our tactics and communication strategies.”
