WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Tom Sell, no stranger to USA Rice, announced he intends to run for Congress in the seat of departing Congressman Jody Arrington (R-TX-19). Tom was born and raised in the 19th District of Texas, where he met his wife, Kyla, and has lived and raised their family of four kids, who are now all grown, with three in college and one married and proudly serving as an officer in the United States Army.
Earlier in his career, Tom worked for another great West Texas Congressman, Larry Combest, and, for the past twenty-one years, has run the firm he and Larry Combest started together, Combest, Sell & Associates.
“We love our country and West Texas, and we want to repay all the great people of West Texas for the blessings they have given us and our family over our lifetime by standing by and defending them — and our country and everything they stand for,” Tom and Kyla said. “We are motivated by a strong sense of urgency and deep gratitude that we both feel.”
“For decades, Tom has dedicated his career to supporting American agriculture and finding policy solutions that support farmers and rural communities,” said USA Rice President & CEO Peter Bachmann. “Having worked with Tom for more than a decade, his passion and commitment to West Texas and American agriculture – including our rice community – is boundless. It is exciting to hear our friend and longtime industry advocate Tom is running for Congress, and we know he has what it takes to win this seat.”
Earlier this week, Congressman Jody Arrington announced he will not seek re-election in 2026. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves as the chairman of the House Budget Committee.
