ARLINGTON, VA – Tomorrow, USA Rice is hosting a webinar for school nutrition professionals, Preparing Fresh & Affordable School Meals Using U.S.-Grown Rice, focused on helping school meal programs maximize flavors, nutrition, and affordability in K-12 school kitchens with U.S.-grown rice.  The webinar will explore student-friendly recipes that align with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) nutrition standard guidelines and strategies for managing food cost and meeting the needs of diverse students.

This accredited webinar is hosted in partnership with Project School Nutrition as part of USA Rice’s ongoing foodservice outreach and will feature culinary insights and demonstrations by Chef Brittany Jones and Chef Juan Pablo Gonzalez, both with the Houston Independent School District and members of the USA Rice K-12 Chef Advisory Board, along with Catherine Powers, MS, RDN, LD, who is the executive director of Healthy School Recipes, a co-sponsor of the training session.

“This webinar brings together real-world expertise from school chefs and professionals to showcase just how much rice can help deliver fresh, creative, and culturally diverse meals that students will enjoy,” said USA Rice Vice President of Domestic Promotion Cameron Jacobs.  “The information shows how schools can maximize rice as an ingredient to help stay within budget and meet nutrition standards while delivering options students will love to eat.”

Scheduled tomorrow at 2PM (EST), this free webinar will showcase how rice can help foodservice operators build versatile, child-friendly meals.  The session will also explore creative applications of rice in K-12 meal programs, offer practical strategies for incorporating U.S.-grown rice as a versatile staple that supports culturally relevant meals, offers flexibility, and balanced nutrition in school cafeterias nationwide.
