In 1958, the United States established an embargo against Cuba for the sale of weapons. Since then the embargo has been expanded to include almost all U.S. exports to the country. In 1961, all diplomatic relations were severed. Recently in 2014, progress was made to re-establish diplomacy between the US and Cuba, however the embargo remains intact.
USA Rice Activities
USA Rice maintains relationships with important stake holders of the rice trade in the country as well as at the Cuban Embassy in Washington DC. Although we do not currently export rice to Cuba, we continue to participate in trade shows and agricultural fairs on a regular basis.
