ARLINGTON, VA – USA Rice recently welcomed two new members: Western Foods joined as a Mill Member, and AgriCapture, as an Enterprise Partner.
Western Foods is food company with an innovative approach to developing gluten-free specialty and functional ingredients by utilizing the many benefits of rice flours and ancient grains. They are headquartered in Woodland, California, and also have locations in Pine Bluff and Little Rock, Arkansas. Their state-of-the-art flour mills combine the latest technology with expertise and experience in grain milling, blending, packaging, and further processing.
AgriCapture is on a mission to fight climate change through sustainable agriculture by verifying positive environmental impacts enabling producers to generate revenue for their sustainable management practices. By certifying agricultural products as climate-friendly and developing carbon credits, AgriCapture serves corporations that are reducing and offsetting their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and at the same time, helping consumers to consciously select climate-friendly products. Arkansas rice farmer Jim Whitaker serves on the company’s board.
“As an organization, USA Rice has always been about representing the entire industry, up and down the supply chain from the farm to the end user,” said USA Rice President & CEO Peter Bachmann. “Elevating Western Foods to a full mill membership and bringing on AgriCapture will help in providing important information and insight as we forge policies that encompass the entire rice space.”
