NEW ORLEANS, LA – The 2025 USA Rice Outlook Conference, now less than 10 weeks away, strives to offer relevant and timely programming that will improve the sustainability and viability of the U.S. rice industry. To that end, and to live up to the line “If rice is your business, this is your conference,” five export market panels and a session on gene editing in agriculture have been added to the schedule.
Major importers and trade experts will take attendees on a deep dive of their markets – including consumer preferences and trends, phytosanitary and grading issues, government regulations, and more. The five panels are: Mexico, Central America, Haiti, Canada, and Europe & Africa, and will be “can’t miss” sessions.
On another education stage, Jeff Nawn, an expert in agricultural biotechnology regulation and market access will lead the session,
Accessing Innovation: Global Regulatory Overview of Gene Editing in Agriculture, exploring how governments around the world are shaping policies for gene-edited crops and livestock.
Drawing on recent case studies and regulatory trends, Nawn will highlight both opportunities and challenges in bringing gene-edited products to market with particular emphasis on rice research and development, including how gene editing is being applied to improve yields, strengthen resilience to climate stress, and enhance disease resistance.
Registration for Outlook is open now and the hotel block is filling up fast. Prices go up on November 6, so register today. And watch this space for more programming updates.
