Vegan Champorado

Champorado is a is a sweet, rich and creamy chocolate rice porridge and a classic Filipino rice recipe that’s usually eaten for breakfast. It’s a simple one-pot dish that uses pantry staples and comes together in about 30 minutes!

This tasty vegan recipe features a combination of U.S.-grown jasmine ad glutinous rice and comes to us from our friends Val & Mani of @plantbased.passport in partnership with USA Rice.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 can (14-oz) of full-fat coconut milk 
  • ½ cup jasmine rice
  • ½ cup glutinous rice
  • 6 tablespoons organic granulated sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder

Directions

  • Combine jasmine and glutinous rice in a small pot. Add water and bring to a boil. 
  • Begin stirring, add cocoa and cook 2 minutes. 
  • Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook 20 minutes. Then stir in sugar and coconut milk.
