ARLINGTON, VA -- It’s September National Rice Month and USA Rice is kicking the celebration off with a new photo contest, calling for members to post images from their rice farm operations on social media channels along with the hashtag #ThinkRice.

“A big part of what we do is tell the rice story – sustainably-grown, safe, healthy, delicious, versatile, and coming from local family farms – and we tell that story all the time, but we all know how many words a picture is worth,” said Michael Klein, vice president of Marketing, Communications, and Domestic Promotion.  “Consumers get really excited when they see pictures from the farm.  Research shows people want to know where their food is coming from and who is responsible for growing it, and these photos go such a long way.”

Klein said contest entries are not limited to harvest.

“We want to show people every phase of rice production and life on a rice farm,” he said.  "What's commonplace to our growers is fascinating to the general public."

Photos posted through October 1 with the #ThinkRice will be eligible to win a free registration to the 2017 USA Rice Outlook Conference held December 10-12 in San Antonio, Texas.
