STUTTGART, AR — YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul knows how to attract attention and throw a punch, but the Paul Camp has been eerily silent of late, despite being publicly challenged to a boxing match by the U.S. rice industry’s own Ricky Rice.
Earlier this week, Rice announced, via a handwritten letter to his fan club, that he has officially challenged Paul to a boxing match, scheduled for “later this fall at a venue with good parking."
"I've been thinking about it for a while," Ricky said during a brief press conference held in a rice field here, "and I just think someone needs to do it. It might as well be me."
When asked about his complete lack of boxing experience, Ricky flashed his trademark smile and said, “we’ll see who is lodged at the end.”
Ricky’s coach, a retired rice breeder who wrestled for three seasons under the name “Titanium Tungro,” expressed quiet confidence in his fighter. “Ricky's got a big heart. He's a lot tougher than he looks, and all that time he spends around the parboiling plant means he knows how to handle pressure."
Paul's camp did not respond to requests for comment on the challenge which Ricky's team hand-delivered along with a two-pound bag of U.S.-grown jasmine and a note that read, "No hard feelings after."
The undercard has not been announced and tickets for the event are not yet available.
Happy April 1st from USA Rice Daily!
Ricky Rice is, as always, doing his best.
