ARLINGTON, VA – The Rice Technical Working Group (RTWG), which convenes every two years, bringing together research and extension faculty, and rice industry professionals to exchange information, engage in cooperative planning, and review rice research, will meet February 17-20 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel.
The RTWG has grown to become one of the largest rice-focused meetings in the country, with more than 300 participants from around the world attending the 2023 meeting. The Louisiana State University AgCenter and the H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station will host what is the 40th edition of the RTWG meeting, and USA Rice is a gold level sponsor. USA Rice staff are helping plan the event and several will be on the program as featured speakers.
The meeting’s jam-packed agenda includes oral presentations and posters showcasing scientific research as well as an education workshop focused on current issues facing rice production and targeted to consultants and rice industry service personnel. In addition, symposia are scheduled on invasive pests and consumer demand implications of climate smart production practices.
“Research scientists and administrators from across the U.S. rice industry and from international agencies have participated in these meetings since 1949,” said Dr. Steve Linscombe, director of The Rice Foundation, who is assisting LSU AgCenter faculty in planning the event. “The 2025 RTWG offers something for everyone involved in the rice industry.”
