FRISCO, TX – Last week, the nation’s crop insurance agents, the Crop Insurance Professionals Association, met here to discuss the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, implementation of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and other issues impacting the industry.
USA Rice Vice President of Government Affairs Jake Westlin represented the U.S. rice industry on a panel along with representatives from the National Cotton Council, Plains Cotton Growers, Titan Farms, Southwest Council of Agribusiness, Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative, and Langley Consulting. Westlin provided perspectives on the challenges facing the rice industry and underscored the need for additional assistance and trade remedies to strengthen the rice industry, as well as other policies USA Rice would like to see in the Farm Bill 2.0 now before Congress.
The agenda also included presentations from a host of policymakers, Members of Congress, staff from the House and Senate Agriculture Committees, as well as representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency, and other agriculture industry stakeholders, economists, and analysts.
