ARLINGTON, VA – To everything there is a season, as the saying goes. The U.S. rice industry is fortunate to attract and retain great talent, but change does happen.
On the latest episode of the Rice Stuff Podcast, “From Seedlings to Harvest: Careers in Rice,” guests include Mollie Buckler who joined the USA Rice team this summer and Dr. Tim Burcham who is retiring from the University of Arkansas’ Northeast Rice Research & Extension Center at the end of this year. Also in the pod, and taking the co-host chair, is Caroline Slack, who joined USA Rice this summer as well.
Buckler and Slack talk about what brought them to rice and what they hope to accomplish over their careers that are unfolding, while Burcham reflects on a 40-year career that spanned from the hills of Mississippi to the top of the rice research community. The gang talks rice bullying, passive aggressive behavior, relentless positivity, the hole left at USA Rice by the retirement of Deborah Willenborg, and other topics.
Responding to no demand, The Rice Stuff has gone visual as well, and while you can listen in all the usual podcast spots or at www.TheRiceStuffPodcast.com, you can also now watch as the hosts work on their eye lines on USA Rice’s YouTube channel.
